About ÉTENDUE
Since the birth of new media like SACD and Blu-ray Disc, we've felt we must develop titles to intend their performance fully so much, that we started our lable "étendue".
At the recording session for our works, we've invented an unique microphone arrangement to get the image of sounds' spreading in the hall.
We worked carefully to record various sound paths with distinction; direct sounds from instruments; stereo images on the stage; reflections from wall, floor and ceiling of concert hall. They are mapped to 5.0 surround bus directly, to play with a surround audio set. We withheld a mixing of these sound sources to keep the purity of the material.
By this way, a listener of our SACDs' surround layer will get clear sounds despite the sound has more complexity. A listener of its stereo layer will get very wealthy images also.
A french word "étendue" means expanse of space, frequency range, dynamic range, and length of time or history. We think these images associated to audio, music and history are very appropriated with our concept of this label.
